We believe a key element in helping us to achieve this is providing 1-2-1 coaching and mentoring. We launched an official coaching and mentoring programme at the start of 2019 committing to provide individuals with up to 12 hours of personal and professional coaching each year.
Coaching sessions are led by a company director and take place in working hours outside of the immediate office environment. Yes, it’s a time commitment for sure – but the impact on individuals, and the knock on effect to our business, has been overwhelmingly positive. And the reason why is quite simple – coaching helps individuals achieve their goals more effectively, learn new ways to resolve issues and produce better results.
Those colleagues embarking on the coaching programme have said that it’s helped give them an improved sense of direction and focus, it’s increased their knowledge and self-awareness, improved their personal effectiveness and their sense of personal empowerment. As a business, the result has been a more motivated team, accelerated learning and improved performance, and increased resourcefulness and resilience. All in all, you could say it’s been win, win.
