Raising awareness of consumer safety with the CPA

When it comes to basic home safety, Brits are falling short and leaving their families – and homes – open to potential dangers. That’s the message that the Consumer Protection Alliance wanted to communicate to consumers when it approached Whistle PR to help raise awareness of the importance of carrying out safety checks within the home.

Whistle rose to the challenge and devised a high-impact news generation campaign that revealed the basic home safety checks that Brits consistently neglect – from failing to check their smoke alarms to forgetting to switch off plugs before going to bed. Hard-hitting press materials were created for national and regional press alongside additional assets for the CPA’s website and social channels, including downloadable home check-lists, infographics and designed social media posts. Whistle also ran a full social media campaign alongside the media launch, utilising all available assets and ultimately driving consumers through to the newly-launched CPA website.

Results included strong coverage across national, trade and consumer media with an audience reach of almost five million. Strong social media and website statistics were also reported throughout the campaign, with social content driving 20% of the web traffic for the duration of the campaign.
