Decarbonisation specialist HI Group has appointed Birmingham-based Whistle PR as its strategic partner to help effectively communicate the business’ recent merger.

Hillside Environmental Services and Infinitas Design publicly announced its merger last week. The newly formed HI Group, currently based out of Newark, Nottinghamshire, unites two industry leaders – co-founders Russell Burton and Laura Bishop – who are dedicated to driving impactful environmental change and addressing today’s sustainability challenges across the nation’s built environment.

With Whistle’s strong background within the construction industry, combined with a laser focus on ESG and sustainability, the appointment offers complete synergy to propel HI Group’s brand forwards. The consultancy’s initial brief includes a communications workshop and strategy to help establish a strong brand presence for the new group whilst also, crucially, upholding the equity of each original entity.

Ongoing, the consultancy will be responsible for social media and creative campaigns aimed at raising brand awareness. This will include overseeing media relations, public affairs, influencer partnerships and thought leadership.

Laura Bishop comments: “We are delighted to have Whistle PR as an extension of our team. We wanted a partner who could expand our reach and help HI Group play its part in achieving net zero. We are confident their sector expertise and shared values make them an ideal fit to help with our mission to reduce the carbon footprint of the UK’s built environment.”

Amy Ahmed-Dolphin, senior account director and head of ESG communications at Whistle PR, adds: “Our appointment as HI Group’s communications partner is a proud moment for Whistle. Russell and Laura have ambitious growth plans and a vision for environmental stewardship which is truly inspiring. Fully on board with this vision, we’ve been entrusted to create and deliver an external communications strategy which will establish the new brand and help the business meet its objectives. We’re raring to go and looking forward to amplifying HI Group’s brand journey.”

The creation of HI Group packages a holistic service, the breadth of which is rarely seen in the renewables sector. Building on an impressive portfolio of decarbonisation projects in notable colleges across the UK, the business can now take its combined offering to help a wider range of sectors adopt actionable net-zero plans.
